Kolokotroni 59B, Athina 105 62, Greece
In the heart of Plaka neighborhood in Athens is this revived 1930’s bar. It was closed in the 30’s/40’s, and remained untouched until now. It’s lovingly restored, and yes the bartenders have beards and wear denim & leather bar aprons. But the music is fantastic, and what seems to be the most interesting kids in Athens roam through it, grabbing cocktails and having smokes. It expands into a restaurant in the back, but my one night in Athens didn’t allow for exploration. Saddle up to the small bar or sit facing the bustling street for a night of feeling real cool in Athens.
