There are two times to go to Danny’s. The first is standard: late, but not too late (avoid the long line). Grab a negroni at the (cash only) crowded bar and head up the steps to dance to whatever absurd genre is playing on the record players, or cozy up in one of the dimly lit nooks. The second is at four PM on a warm saturday afternoon, when no one’s there and good jazz plays. The pitch black bar contrasts with the bright light from the open door. The first is good, but the second is perfect.
